Privacy Policy
Effective date: February 8, 2026
Autism Captain (“Autism Captain”, “we”, “us”) is a tracking and communication tool intended to help autistic people, families, and care teams capture day-to-day context, identify patterns, and create shareable summaries. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Summary
- You control what you enter. Most data comes from what you type or upload.
- We don’t sell personal data.
- We use service providers for basic infrastructure (hosting, analytics, notifications).
- AI features are optional and can be wrong; they are not medical advice.
Information we collect
1) Information you provide
Depending on how you use the app, you may provide:
- Account and profile information (for example name, email, and basic settings).
- Tracking entries you create in the app (for example routines, events, sensory factors, stressors, supports, triggers, de-escalation strategies, notes).
- Reminders and planning content (tasks, appointments, schedules, and related notes).
- Files you choose to upload (if you use features that allow attachments such as images or documents).
- Support communications if you contact us (messages and any information you include).
2) Device and app information
To operate the app reliably and support key features, we may collect:
- Device identifiers for notifications (push notification token). This lets us send reminders/notifications you enable.
- Basic diagnostics such as app version, device type, and crash/performance signals (when available).
- Approximate analytics events (see “Analytics” below).
3) Purchases and subscriptions
If you purchase a subscription, purchases are processed by Apple. We may receive non-sensitive purchase information from Apple and/or our subscription provider (for example whether a subscription is active) to enable premium access and restore purchases. We do not receive your full payment card details.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide the app features you request (tracking, reminders, summaries, exporting/sharing).
- Maintain and improve reliability, performance, and security.
- Provide customer support and respond to your messages.
- Operate AI features when you choose to use them (see below).
- Manage subscriptions and entitlements (for example verifying access and restoring purchases).
AI features
Autism Captain may offer AI-assisted summaries and pattern highlights based on the information you log. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate and should be used as a helper for reflection and communication — not as medical advice.
When you use AI features, the content you submit may be processed to generate the response. We design the feature to use only what is needed to provide the output.
Analytics
We use analytics to understand how the app and website are used so we can improve performance and user experience. Our website may use Google Analytics (via Google Tag) to measure basic usage.
Examples of analytics data may include:
- Pages visited and approximate usage metrics (e.g., session duration).
- Device/browser type, approximate location (city/region), and referral source.
- General app events (for example feature usage), in aggregated form when possible.
You can often control analytics via your browser settings and (where applicable) device privacy settings.
Push notifications
If you enable notifications, we store a device token to deliver reminders and alerts. You can disable notifications any time in your device settings.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed for:
- Service providers that help us run the app (hosting, databases, analytics, notification delivery, customer support). They are permitted to process data only to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety reasons if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security (for example responding to lawful requests).
- Business transfers (if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred subject to this policy).
Your choices and controls
- Access and export: you can access your data in the app and use available export/share features.
- Delete: you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see Contact).
- Notifications: disable through device settings.
- AI usage: if AI is optional in the app, you can choose whether to use it.
Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service and for legitimate operational needs (such as security, backups, dispute resolution, and legal compliance). When you request deletion, we will take steps to delete or de-identify information unless we must retain it for legal or security reasons.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
Autism Captain may be used by parents/caregivers and professionals to track information. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without a parent/guardian or responsible adult’s involvement. If you believe a child has provided personal data directly to us without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
International users
We may process information in countries other than where you live. Data protection laws can vary by country. We take steps designed to protect information regardless of where it is processed.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” above. If changes are significant, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
